Anker SoundBuds Sport IE20 In-Ear Bluetooth Earbuds – Up to 43% Off
So, this is a weird one.
I’m recommending something that isn’t perfect, but…..there’s a very good reason.
I just got an iPhone 7 and, as you’ll know, that means that there is no longer a headphone socket. Sure, there’s an adaptor to use your old headphones with the jack but I thought I’d take the plunge and go wireless, which means getting a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
Dang, but they are expensive!
All the ‘best’ ones are in the $100 plus range and those that are generally held to be reliably good are nearly double that.
So, I decided to get a cheap pair – for me in the UK that meant under £25 – as I just kinda wanted to try them out and see if they were good enough.
Now, here’s the thing. I love music but I don’t listen to a lot of music on headphones whilst walking around. I generally do my listening on a decent old school Hi-Fi. That means that I use headphones to mainly listen to podcasts or radio on the move (using the TuneIn app).
In other words, I can put up with less than perfect sound quality.
And, at this price you simply cannot expect great sound. Acceptable yes, great no!
So, my first choice was the TaoTronics Wireless Headphones that Amazon lists as its bestseller.
Not only was the Bluetooth connection rubbish but the sound was flaky and coarse.
I sent those back.
And then I thought I’d try the Anker ones.
You know we often recommend Anker products, partly as they’re generally great quality but also as they have awesome customer service.
And here’s the facts.
The Bluetooth connection is solid, they hold a charge for as many hours a day as I could need and the sound is ….. not that bad!
It’s nowhere near as bassy and crisp as you’ll get from even a budget pair of good headphones, but it’s perfectly good enough for casual listening.
They aren’t brilliant but they are so much better than the TaoTronics that I’m now happy.
And, if you fancy a cheap pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones, I’d suggest you just trust Anker!
