Many of us are backing up all sorts of things to our Apple iCloud accounts, without really knowing what is backing up, or why (but it’s a safety precaution, so we just stick with it).
You’ll be glad to know that most apps (especially the non personal ones) don’t need to be backed up. You want to back up the things which you will miss if they are lost – so photo’s, videos, music etc. As we covered in our free e-book, Apple gives users 5GB of storage free, so if you want to make the most of this, don’t back up every needless application you have. Focus on the important ones.
The process is a very simple 3-step trip to selecting what you want, and what you don’t want backed up to your iCloud account.
3 Steps to Saving Space and Money
- From Settings on your iPad or iPhone, select iCloud
- Select Documents & Data.
- You will be taken to a screen showing which of your apps are using iCloud to store data. Simply turn off the ones you don’t need to back up onto iCloud.
